Mobile devices, computers and the supporting IT infrastructure are part of modern life and if organisations are to operate successfully, they need to ensure that the information they need is secure and only accessible by authorised individuals and organisations. To ensure that you have successful defences against a cyber attack you need to have the right strategy in place to build an effective cyber security framework.
To have an effective cyber security strategy an organisation need to consider the following:
- What information is stored by the organisation
- Who needs access to what information
- What threats does the organisations information face
- What levels of risks from the threats are challenging the organisation
- Who will own the cyber security strategy and how does it fit into the overall information management framework
Once these questions have been answered then the next stage is looking at what framework needed to be considered for countering any cyber threat.
